Republicans scared of protracted nomination

Caught this article on yahoo about GOP governors fearing that the drawn out nomination will hurt their party's chances in November. I think it's ridiculous that they are afraid of people learning more abut their party and platform. Shouldn't the race be more abut what is good for the country, instead of just defeating Obama?

Like Minds

So, right after my last post, I see this article at weeklypost.com that discusses one of Mitt Romney's endorsements jumping ship to Rick Santorum. The best part is when Mike Dewine says “It’s abundantly clear that Governor Romney’s campaign is no better than it was four years ago.” Check it out

Mitt Romney

I simply don't understand why many republicans think Mitt Romney has the best chance to beat Obama in November. Forgetting that there are several things working in Obama's favor at this time, there is nearly no excitment around Mitt's campaign. I get the feeling he has already peaked and that was in 2008.

Big week for marriage equality

Right on the heels of gay marriage passing in Washington state, today marriage equality has passed the Maryland state house and heads to the Senate. The bill was passed with the support and leadership of several LGBT legislators. Marriage equality also passed both houses of the New Jersey legislature, but unfortunately was vetoed by Republican Governor Chris Christie. Two big steps forward and one back.

Santorum

So what about Rick Santorum cleaning house on Tuesday night. I think it's great, as he is the least likely to get elected amongst those left. Definitely getting interesting on the republican side, but for all the wrong reasons. Excitment and turnout hasn't been that good in several of the contests so far, which can only mean good things for democrats.

Amendment One

So one thing you'll probably hear a lot about on this blog for the next few months is the proposed amendment to the NC constitution. I hope to go into more detail about amendment one soon, but for now, just want to congratulate the Greensboro City Council for passing a resolution against amendment one 8-1. Great job!

Getting Started

So I've been thinking about doing this for a while and finally decided to jump in. This blog is about all things political. I'll discuss things in the mainstream media and will try to mix it up with other topics that are less talked about. I definitely consider myself a democrat, but I think I'm more moderate than most. I certainly hope that is reflected by this blog as time goes on. I love discussion and love to hear people's opinions even when they disagree with me. The only thing I dont tolerate is personal attacks.
